<p>Losing weight is not all about the food you eat. You also need to do exercises to lose weight fast.   Exercise helps you to burn calories and raise your metabolic rate. Driving your children from one location to another is not the same as going swimming or running. On short trips, try walking instead of driving. It is much healthier for you, for your kids and for the environment.</p>
<p>One of the best types of exercise for losing weight quickly and easily is walking but you need to walk at least 10,000 steps a day. Don’t worry; you don’t need to walk all these steps in one go. You can do them over the whole day. Invest in a pedometer rather than trying to guess whether you are achieving this milestone. Walking also helps to prevent or reduce health problems by reducing your cholesterol levels.</p>
<p>Aerobic exercises such as walking, swimming and jogging is the most important type of exercise for your health but resistance training is excellent for toning and shaping your body. So why not try to combine a mixture of both into your life. You could go swimming or jogging or walking for twenty minutes every day and then two or three times a week do some resistance training.  </p>

<p>Just what is the easiest way to lose weight, I hear you ask! Well, it is kind of simple really. You need to eat less and exercise more. But let’s face it &#8211; if it were really that simple, we wouldn&#8217;t be a nation with an epidemic of overweight and obesity.</p>
<p>Part of the problem is that there are so many diets out there and so many experts, who all seem to contradict each other; and we have ended up confused.  We don&#8217;t know if we should be eating cabbage all day long, or drinking watercress soup or consuming only raw food.  Or should we be trying the trendy celebrity diets like Master Cleanse which are reputed to yield fast weight loss?  </p>
<p>Taking care of your weight will help your health even if you only lose a pound or two. Every pound you lose is a step in the right direction. Start with a small goal and celebrate your success. Too often,  dieters aim for too much and when the weight doesn’t drop off quickly we lose motivation.</p>
<p>You should begin by keeping a food diary. By writing down everything you eat but also the mood you were in when you ate i.e. bored, happy, and sad, you will get to know your trigger points. A lot of us eat for something to do not because we are hungry. Keeping a diary also helps you to remember exactly what you ate so you can see how many calories you are consuming.</p>

<p>Start every day with a decent breakfast. That way you are less likely to snack on the things we all love, but drive our weight out of sight. Cut alcohol out for the moment as it not only contains empty calories but it lowers your inhibitions making it more difficult to stick to a diet. If you can&#8217;t give up altogether, then aim to drink two glasses of water for every alcoholic drink you have. This will help to flush the toxins out of your body.</p>
<p>Cut down on your sugar and salt intake by cooking your own food rather than relying on take aways or packaged foods. Too much salt can hinder weight loss as it causes you to retain water.</p>
<p>Start exercising as well. You don’t need to go to a gym. Walking, swimming, jogging and skating are all good examples of how easy it is to build exercise into your day.</p>
<p>The secret to losing weight and more importantly to maintaining your new figure is to lose pounds gradually. Forget about faddy diets that promise to lose ten pounds overnight &#8211; the weight you lose will be mainly water and <a href="http://www.fatlossvictory.com">fat loss</a> should be the goal. And studies show you are likely to put back on even more weight than you lost. Don&#8217;t obsess about being on a diet as this will only make you hungry. </p>

<p>What is a sensible diet?  This is a common question.  As a rule of thumb a low carb 1200 calorie diet plan may benefit you. However, be aware that some individuals may need more calories per day even while on a diet.  Dropping below 1,200 calories is not considered wise as it may put the body in starvation mode and have a negative impact on health.</p>
<p>Portion sizes must be cut no matter what your daily intake will be on a diet.  Sadly some fast food and restaurant meals total well beyond 1,200 calories.  This leads to a distorted perception of what should constitute a reasonable daily intake of food whether dieting or maintaining a health weight.   </p>
<p>So what to do?  First of all, skipping empty calories &#8212; sugar and refined carbohydrates is a must.  We also need to make sure we eat the right kinds of fat.  Too many people who embark on a diet cut out all types of fats.  This only makes you miserable as the first place you lose fat from is your brain cells.  Your brain needs good fats such as omega 3  in order to distribute feel good chemicals i.e. serotonin throughout your body.  Starving yourself of these good fats is self defeating.</p>

When following a low carb fat reducing diet, it is important not to eat any carbohydrates in the evening.  Don’t eat them after 5pm and you will notice the weight loss speeds up.  Carbohydrates are a necessary part of our diet but they release glucose into our systems.  When we don’t use up this glucose it is converted into fat and stored usually on our waistline.  By not eating carbohydrates in the evening, we reduce this effect.  It also makes us hungrier in the mornings so we are more likely to have a fulfilling breakfast.  This is key to losing weight.</p>
<p>Eating more of the correct foods will give you more energy.  You already know that you need to exercise more in order to help lose weight but also to improve your overall fitness level.  Invest in a pedometer and aim to get to 10,000 steps a day.  Try different forms of exercise.  Variety is the spice o f life.  It is pointless forcing yourself to go jogging every day if you hate it.  Try swimming, rollerblading or even walking instead.</p>
<p>Find a friend to go on your low carb fat reducing diet with you.  It is always easier to do something when there are two of you to keep each other motivated. When we refer to &#8220;abs&#8221; we automatically think of the rock hard “six pack” that we see in men’s underwear ads and in movies like “300” where all of the Spartans look like they have been doing nothing but crunches and sit-ups for several years. </p>
<p>This is not realistic, no matter what the television commercials tell you, those ab workouts and crazy machines will not produce a six pack if you now have a tubby tummy. In fact, ab workouts when you already have a large stomach region will most likely make your tummy larger or appear larger. This is because by exercising that region you are actually building muscle underneath the fat layer and it will push your midsection out!</p>
<p>This does not mean that you should not perform ab workouts, it just means that you need to know how to do them. You also need to combine your ab workouts with a consistent diet program and an aerobic exercise routine that will help you to lose weight overall. If you do not lose weight by modifying your diet and sweating with aerobic exercise then all of the workouts in the world will not reduce your gut. </p>

<p>When you first start out doing ab workouts you need to be careful and not overdo them. Fitness experts suggest that you lie on the floor with your knees bent. Instead of performing the traditional sit-up which can be very damaging to your back and relies mostly on the hip flexors as opposed to the abdominal muscles, experts agree that you should do modified crunches. Put your hands behind your head and slowly raise your head about five inches, hold it there, then slowly go down again. Repeat this exercise for ten repetitions. You will immediately feel a tightness in your abdominal region and you may even cramp up if you have not done any ab exercises in a long time. If you do feel a cramp coming on do not move for a while and just lay on your back. Abdominal cramps can be very painful so you want to avoid these as much as possible.</p>
<p>Another great ab routine is the leg lift from the bench position. Lie down flat on a bench and grab the back of the bench behind you. With the legs together and extended lift them together slowly as high as you can, then slowly bring them back down parallel to the bench or even a bit below if you can. Repeat this workout ten times. Be very careful when doing this exercise that you do not overdo it and hurt your back. If you have a bad back do not attempt this exercise.</p>
<p>When you begin any of these ab workouts you should also make dietary modifications, namely reducing your intake of saturated fats, oils, sugar, and refined carbohydrates to accelerate <a href="http://www.fatlossvictory.com">fat loss</a>.  Avoid processed foods and stick to a more complete diet of fresh fruit and vegetables, as raw as possible to get the most nutrition. Your ab workouts will get a lot easier over time and you will see much better definition once you start cutting back on the calories.</p>

Pretty soon everyone else caught on; the national fitness chains 24 Hour Fitness, Xpress Zone, and Town Sports International, a regional chain, whipped up the express 22 minute workout exercise regimes, and pretty much everyone else followed suit. The idea has been so successful that even the traditionally slow wellness concepts of yoga and spinning have caught on with 30 minute sessions. If they feel that they can&#8217;t give you your money&#8217;s worth in an all-around program in the time, they often offer you short sessions that focus on certain parts of the body that you need to train, your tummy, your legs and so on.</p>

<p>The rush workout idea is predictably popular; not least because people pay to exercise, and would rather spend as little time in the gym as humanly possible. Quickie workout exercise sessions aren&#8217;t just for the busy executive; they are also for people who just can&#8217;t stand the idea of exercising, and would at least come in for a little something if they were promised that it would not last long. It can also be a great idea for people who have never exercised, and would like to start off slowly.</p>
<p>If this seems like an idea of its times, would it surprise you to know that the express workout exercise idea was born way back in the 1990s, before we were addicted to iPhones, Blackberry and laptop computers and the 24/7 work schedules they encourage? Gyms would advertise programs that promised to help you hop from one machine to another, all in record time. The idea wasn&#8217;t popular back then. Today, it is an idea whose time has come. The idea makes sense, when seen in light of the recommendation of the Surgeon General that people need at least a 30 minute workout each day. More would be better, but this would be the absolute minimum required for a reasonable level of health.</p>
